From June 30th to July 5th, 2024, a series of Village Savings and Loan Association (VSLA) groups were successfully established in Puntland, Somalia. This initiative aimed to empower local communities by providing them with tools and resources to improve their financial independence.
Following the establishment of the groups, a comprehensive training session was conducted from July 7th to 12th, 2024, at the Aljazeera Hotel in Galkacyo. The training focused on strengthening the participants’ skills in saving, managing loans, and promoting economic self-sufficiency within their communities.
The initiative received overwhelming support from the local community, with participants expressing their appreciation for the opportunity to gain valuable financial management skills. These VSLA groups are set to make a lasting impact on the lives of the beneficiaries, fostering economic resilience and encouraging sustainable growth in Puntland.
