From December 2nd to 3rd, 2024, Abyan Consulting successfully facilitated a Social Analysis and Action (SAA) workshop in Galkacyo, Puntland State of Somalia. This event brought together community members, policymakers, and power holders to discuss attitudes and norms related to gender equality and to promote more inclusive governance.
The primary aim of the workshop was to engage key stakeholders in understanding and addressing the social barriers to gender equality, while promoting inclusive decision-making processes at local and national levels. The SAA sessions provided a platform for open dialogue, helping participants explore the challenges women face in accessing political and economic opportunities and the importance of fostering more inclusive governance.
Through in-depth discussions and group activities, the workshop facilitated critical reflection on societal attitudes towards gender roles and the need for policy changes to ensure equal participation and rights for women. The event was met with enthusiasm from participants, who expressed their commitment to advancing gender equality and promoting inclusive governance within their communities.
Abyan Consulting’s facilitation of the SAA sessions, in collaboration with local stakeholders, has made a positive impact in strengthening the capacity of the community and policymakers to advocate for and implement gender-sensitive policies in Puntland.
